This is a web site that has one singular purpose - to present a detailed discography of a band called The The, as well as it's various side-projects. This isn't an entirely new idea. For a good time, a man by the name of Steve Shill hosted a The The discography site that was quite good and had an awful lot of detailed information about their various releases. Recently, Steve Shill decided to stop hosting the page although you can see a backup of what it looked like by clicking here. This wasn't entirely a suprise that he took it down - he hadn't updated it for a few years and has several other pages he's quite passionate about. However, I used his page and started using it to track down the differences between The The rarities when I started buying them on ebay. I quickly found out there was a lot of material missing from his discography and started building my own private listing. Eventually I figured I might as well incorporate it into a web site for others who also could use these listings. There are lots of people on ebay who viciously bid against each other for various The The releases. In many cases, sellers have listed their material incorrectly, often listing items as rarities when in fact they are not. My hope is that these listings might also help sellers to find out how rare their material is and how likely they'll be able to sell it.

So here's the plan. I've added a whole slew of information from Steve Shill's discography as well as new information from my own collection and the contributions of others on ebay. I plan to keep updating it with new information as it rolls in from you guys. Hopefully it'll be updated more often than Steve's page was but if I get lazy, please excuse me. If you see any discrepancies, please e-mail me at tashimon@hotmail.com. If you have anything you don't see on this list, please e-mail me. Your contributions can help put together a great list so feel free to contribute.

I've been a fan of The The's music since I first heard Soul Mining back in '83. This site was designed by Agnes Boberski. I did the data entry and image scanning, but she's responsible for the overall layout. If you're at all interested in having a web site designed by her, feel free to drop her a line at the e-mail address above. The site was set up in the fall of 2001 and I hope it'll be hosted for a fair bit after that.

I'm also a big fan of lots of other groups as well, such as Talk Talk, Nurse With Wound, The Hafler Trio, Cabaret Voltaire, Frank Zappa, you name it. I just happen to like The The enough to make a page and collect their stuff. Personally, I think Matt's one of the last great singer/songwriters left on the planet and if you're out there Matt, don't stop the music - you rule.

In fact, if you're out there Matt, I got some questions I'd love to ask ya. Feel free to e-mail me back with any answers you might have to the following questions. Why don't you release your unreleased albums that everybody wants (ie. Pornography, Gun Sluts, etc.) on your own label, Lazarus through mail order or internet sales? That way you could take all the profits and not be bogged down by major label red tape. The other thing I'd love to find out about is Good Morning Beautiful. In the Infected movie, there's a few split second frames near the end that show something that appears to be a poster bill with the words "Good Morning Beautiful" on it in big letters.

What is Good Morning Beautiful? It's obviously something that you were thinking about around the time of Infected, long before it surfaced on Mind Bomb. Anyway, if I have any other questions, I'll add them in as I think of them, but for the present, that's about all I'd really like to know.

Lastly, I couldn't put up this site without thanking a whole slew of people, the list of which continues to grow as the weeks progress. First off, let's start out with Quincy and Steve Shill, who inspired me to put up a The The page in the first place. Second, Cally and Matt Johnson for giving me their okay on the content of the page; it's always good to know I have approval from the actual artists in question. But most of all, the contributors, the people who actually provide the scans, the corrections, the information, the eBay tips, etc. etc. are the people I have to thank the most. This site is nothing without content because it is essentially nothing but content. For all the hard work, proof reading, and tireless work of the following, I am eternally grateful: Dave Hirsch, Grebo Guru, Joachim Suerbaum, Lee Harrison, Phillip Renwick, Rebecca, Dietmar, Riquez, Jack Siddeley, Dave Smith, JP [from the Japanese The The forum], Stu, Sahne, and I'm probably forgetting a whole slew of others.
